Event: Campus Awareness Camp 2026

A Cancer Awareness Camp was organized at Darjeeling Hills University on 24th March, 2026 in a collaborative venture between Live 4 Help Foundation, New Delhi and Roymoni Smriti Foundation, West Bengal, sponsored by Erbe Medical India, New Delhi. The programme was facilitated by Dr. Suvendu Maji, Assistant Professor, Department of Surgical Oncology, SSKM (P.G. Hospital). The awareness camp was attended by the students, faculty members and non-teaching staff of Darjeeling Hills University and by the members of local Self Help Groups (SHG).
The objectives for organizing the camp were as follows:
- To make people aware of the various types of cancer and their symptoms.
- To educate and inform the participants about methods of early detection and prevention of cancer.
- To promote healthy lifestyle for cancer risk reduction.
An interactive session was held at the end of the programme between participants and the facilitator which brought forth concerns regarding common risk factors and questions based on personal experiences thereby contributing to the discussion on cancer awareness and prevention.
