Darjeeling Hills University marked the global observance of International Yoga Day on Saturday, 21st June 2025, with a well-attended program held on campus. The event saw active participation from students, faculty members, non-teaching staff, and the university Registrar, Dr. Sujata Rani Rai.
The highlight of the program was a yoga session led by Ms. Muskan Thapa, an experienced Yoga, Dance and Zumba instructor, who was invited as the chief resource person for the day. During her session, Ms. Thapa emphasized the physical and mental health benefits of yoga. She guided the participants through a series of simple yet effective yoga postures and breathing exercises, promoting overall well-being.
The occasion was further enriched by the presence of Ms. Anshu Tamang, a talented grade ten student from Saraswati Higher Secondary School in Mungpoo. A member of the Darjeeling District Wushu Association, Ms. Tamang has represented the region at several national-level Wushu competitions, making her participation a special addition to the event.
The program concluded with light refreshments served to all attendees, providing a fitting end to a successful and health-oriented morning.
